Extensive transparent areas are emphasised in the print Building Type AB to reinforce the relationship between the drawings of the buildings in the work. Reflections, shadows and the continuous changing viewpoints determine the transparency when light hits the surface, which emphasises the spatiality.

This diptych is based on spaces constructed using Euclid's Rule with emphasis on architectural forms and the polemics of space. Four copper plates have been used in an attempt to suggest that the layers beneath each determine a specific experience of a space: a kind of chaos and order emerges in its completion.

They became an archetype for tracing space whilst roaming downtown through the streets of Manhattan. On location, the small copper plates were engraved to represent the facades of different buildings that I walked by almost every day for 8 months. The work involves forms, shapes and structures that exist in particular urban spaces representing architecture, whose disguises are numerous.

I collect broken signs from country roads and present them as works on paper, using traditional printmaking methods. My interventions reveal weathered, scarred and reflective souvenirs. Merge becomes an off-site marker that re-presents a landscape and a site.

Paradoxes and parallels inherent within the organic and built forms are analysed. Architectural imagery has been reinterpreted to symbolically represent the transformation of spinal composition when affected by the bone disease osteoporosis.

Etching and screenprint Edition of 30 Image size: 40.5 x 28,5 cm Paper size: 69 x 49 cm PCA Print Commission 2015 Juno portrays mythic hybrid creatures - part human, part bird - similar to the inter-species characters in my earlier Chimera series. Juno is a guardian and stands bravely in an oval wreath of branches: a human woman with the head of a peacock, which is her symbolic bird. This oval form derives from shadows cast by a three dimensional coronet, which I created by attaching fragments of my printed images to a wire base. Theatrical lighting, shone through the top of the coronet, created ambiguous silhouettes that I drew over and then enhanced with additional printed collage elements.

Prue MacDougall – Juno

The creature is immersed in these marks but is also a victim of the cultural artefact of the fabric.

I was fortunate enough to escape contact, my friend was not so lucky… those itchy little buggers!
